This book is more a biography of his experiences in the war than a specific attempt to speak out about the genocide, but his account of that tragedy is a worthwhile historical record. Nogales also describes in a very detailed way the different cultures, customs, ethnicities and historical monuments that he witnessed as he traveled through all the possessions of the Empire while fulfilling the different missions entrusted to him. It's one of my favorite books, it's so well written that it's very easy to imagine oneself next to the author forming parts in his adventure.
