And why won't F2 do anything anymore? By the way, twice the power went out and it automatically restarted and came to a screen that had alot of choices including safe mode, I think. I suspect that is the Advanced Boot Options menu. Shouldn't I be able to access if on start up? And why won't F2 work anymore? I have never seen a Windows machine Windows and up that did not respond to F8. I have seen a few threads where it took people some time to get the knack - some pressed F8 to slowly, to fast, permanently or too late - but eventually all succeeded.

The Debugging Mode option enables debug mode in Windows, an advanced diagnostic mode where data about Windows can be sent to the connected "debugger".
The Disable automatic restart on system failure option stops Windows from restarting after a serious system failure, like a Blue Screen of Death. If you can't disable automatic restart from within Windows because it won't fully start, this option suddenly becomes very useful. The Disable Driver Signature Enforcement option allows drivers that aren't digitally signed to be installed in Windows. This option isn't available on Windows XP's menu. Disabling the early launch anti-malware protection could allow the computer to be further infected if the option is disabled and the computer is booting to the desktop.
